Partij voor de Dieren gaat uit van winst

(Novum) - De Partij voor de Dieren gaat ervan uit dat ze een zetel in het Europees Parlement heeft veroverd. In Den Haag kwam het hierdoor vrijdagochtend al tot een polonaise van aanhangers van de partij. "Wij lopen altijd voor de muziek uit", antwoordde lijsttrekker voor de Europese verkiezingen Natasja Oerlemans op een vraag van Radio 1.

De partij kan volgen Oerlemans met een zetel al een verschil maken in het parlement. Een samenwerking met andere partijen zou daarvoor niet noodzakelijk zijn omdat dierenwelzijn sowieso al veel media-aandacht trekt. Ze kondigde op de radio aan 'zo min mogelijk concessies' te doen.

Oerlemans wilde zich niet zeggen of de partij gaat samenwerken met De Groenen. Ze wees erop dat De Groenen positief tegenover Europa staan terwijl dat voor de PvdD niet geldt.

Former Parliament President among the least transparent lobbyists

Our blogs have previously highlighted examples of former MEPs who have gone through the revolving door to become corporate lobbyists. Pat Cox, president of the European Parliament until 2004, is another astonishing example. Mr. Cox works as a lobbying consultant for public affairs giant APCO, the corporations Microsoft, Pfizer and Michelin, and he is the director of two smaller lobby firms: CAPA Ltd and European Integration Solutions.
