Non-GMO Soy Summit 2005
- Brussels 28 – 29 June 2005

- – Download Service for the General Public –
Over 110 industry representatives from 16 countries on four
continents met in Brussels on 28 & 29 June 2005 for a
conference that brought together soy crushers and processors
from Brazil and their European industrial customers for a
constructive exchange of information and ideas. The Summit
provided processors, importers, financial institutions, feed
compounders, food manufacturers and retailers with the
opportunity to assess the future of non-GMO soy, especially as
supplied from Brazil. On the second day the audience was
completed by some strategists from NGOs and by represen-tatives
from some of Europe's GM-free Regions.
For all those who may have missed the Summit or were unable
to register in time there is now an opportunity to obtain the
proceedings of the conference, including:
Detailed summaries for Day I and Day II
All presentations given at the Summit in full length
(in PDF format)
A complete list of all participants showing names,
organizations and eMail addresses.
Additional background material, including an overview
of rising figures non-GMO of certified soy volumes since
2000.

The Summit not only joined several industries, but it also covered entirely new terrain by communicating to all those not familiar with the issues, and this included the consumer representatives, the extent of industry efforts to meet consumer demands and allowing them to understand the technical, market, and regulatory challenges that industry is grappling with in its successful efforts to respond to consumer preference.
Clarifying the facts, dispersing rumors and thus bridging probably more than one information
gap was the main objective of the Summit. The feedback we have received from participants
so far indicates that this was indeed accomplished by the meeting.
