[edit] Studiedag gentechvrije zonesSteeds meer Europese regio’s, gemeenten en boeren keren zich tegen de teelt van transgene gewassen. Ze willen de teelt van transgene gewassen in hun regio voorkomen door zichzelf of hun bedrijf uit te roepen tot ‘gentechvrije zone’. Alleen in Nederland blijft het tot nu toe opmerkelijk stil. Daarom nodigen Greenpeace, A Seed en Biologica u graag uit voor een studiedag over gentechvrije zones in Nederland. De studiedag vindt plaats op woensdag 4 februari van 10 tot 17 uur, en meer info en het faxnummer staat hier op de website van A Seed. |

Round-Table-Veranstaltung zu Biopiraterie in Asien
Auf dem BUKO 31, 9.-12.5. in Dortmund wird es am Samstag, 10.5., vier Workshops und eine Round-Table-Veranstaltung zu Biopiraterie in Asien, speziell Indien, Pakistan und China geben. Alle VA sind zweisprachig englisch/deutsch.
The BUKO-Campaign against Biopiracy organizes in cooperation with Thana (India) on the BUKO 31 in Dortmund on the 9th and 10th of May some workshops and plenary sessions on biopiracy in Asia, especially in India, China and Pakistan.

Genetische manipulatie in de landbouw: Nachtmerrie of zegen?
Afgelopen jaar zijn er meerdere aanvragen gedaan - o.a. van AVEBE uit Veendam - om proefvelden voor genetische gemanipuleerde organismes (GMO) in Drenthe aan te leggen. Wat zijn de consequenties voor de flora en fauna van Drenthe? Wat zijn de consequenties voor andere boeren in het gebied, vooral voor biologische boeren? Wat zijn de consequenties voor de gezondheid van de mens?
Er is veel onwetendheid als het gaat om GMO. Veel mensen zullen GM voedsel wantrouwen, Frankensteinvoedsel zal hun eerste reactie zijn. Anderen zullen naar de vermeende voordelen van GM-gewassen wijzen: hogere productie met mindere gebruik van gif. Om de discussie te stimuleren organiseren SP Drenthe, D66 in Drenthe, Natuur en milieugroep Midden Drenthe, L.T.O. noord een debat over de genetische modificatie van landbouwgewassen. Bij dit debat zullen voorstanders en tegenstanders hun standpunten aan de hand van stellingen uiteenzetten.
De organisatoren zijn van mening dat een geïnformeerd debat over GMO noodzakelijk is. Daarom worden (lokale) politici, maatschappelijke organisaties, telers en consumenten uitgenodigd.
Verder is er een gastoptreden van Wieteke van Dort, muziek van Mona Moog (Harp) en zal de film "Gen zoekt boer" te zien zijn.

'Gen zoekt boer - maar is de liefde wederzijds' (documentaire)
Op 15 maart aanstaande gaat de documentaire 'Gen zoekt boer. Maar is de liefde wederzijds?' in premiere in de Balie in Amsterdam. De documentaire handelt over genetische manipulatie in de Nederlandse landbouw. Door de controverse rondom de introductie van GGO-teelt helder in beeld te brengen, daagt de film boeren, belangenbehartigers en een breder publiek uit zich verder te informeren en deel te nemen aan het maatschappelijk debat over gentech in de landbouw.
'Gen zoekt boer' (2008, Nederland) is een coproductie van A SEED Europe en Milieudefensie.

GMO-Compass, the online guide to the world of genetically modified plants and food, is hosting an online discourse to get to the heart of these critical questions. The online discourse, hosted at www.gmo-compass.org, will open its forum to the public next Monday, on September 11th, and will remain open until October 8th. The GMO-Compass editorial board, a team of independent science journalists, is launching this discourse to foster informed debate on GMOs, especially on co-existence. Results of the discourse will be summarised and published. Komende Zaterdag 22 juli zal een groep mensen actie gaan voeren in het ggo-maisveld in Meerlo.(Noord Limburg) Het idee is om wetenschappelijke informatie te verzamelen over hoe de test precies wordt uitgevoerd. Hiertoe zal o.a. de aftsand naar nabijgelegen maisvelden worden gecontroleerd, zullen er grondmonsters worden genomen en andere aspecten die met de proef te maken hebben zullen worden bekeken. Wie mee wil doen: we verzamelen om 12.00 uur op station Venray en zullen vandaar fietsen naar de plek des onheils. U wordt aangeraden om uw fiets mee te nemen. Fiets huren kan waarschijnlijk ook wel bij station Venray maar dan heeft u paspoort nodig plus 50 euro borg.
